Description

This is for 's "Death Do Us Part" contest. [link]
We had to illustrate this quote:
"If death came to some, and not to others, then it truly would be a terrible thing. But as it is, it doesn't matter who or what you are, sooner or later, he comes for us all. In that way, isn't death something to look at not as a curse, but as ultimately, the last gift of the stars?"

-
So now, onto the explanation!:
+ I drew a variety of people to try and represent the first part of the quote.. Imagine, if someone innocent like a child died, but someone who's committed sins and wouldn't hesitate to commit more, didn't?
+ I drew many types living beings for the second part of the quote. Because you may be a criminal who finds excitement through killing, or a sick teenager with the knowledge of your dying day. Perhaps a person mourning for a loved one who passed away, or even a loving grandmother. Maybe you're a famous celebrity who only cares about money, beauty and popularity, or a group of innocent children playing in the park. Or maybe you're a kid enjoying some ice cream with your mother after baseball practice, or a mother proud of your daughter for everything she's doing. You could even be someone who's trying to become the next Einstein, but can't because your pet won't stop bugging you. You may be one of the rich employees of a successful company off for a vacation on some private island.
But for sure, you're one of the millions of people on Earth. So whichever you are, death's never too far away!
+ To illustrate the last part of the quote, I drew the Earth, surrounded by Death's wings. (Because no one knows who or what death really is.) As you can see, the background is space, with trillions of stars. The shooting stars are what I wanted to look like the gift of death, falling for whoever's next~
I scattered a certain flower in this picture; the "Anemone." (Along with its colors) According to this website (and others that I've found) this flower means:
"In Palestine, the Anemone was thought to have grown under the cross of Jesus.
Superstitions about the anemone existed in Europe, and Egypt. Anemones were thought to carry diseases. The Egyptians believed that the Anemone as the emblem of sickness, because of the flush of colour upon the backs of the white sepals. The Chinese call it the ~Flower of Death~. In some European countries it is looked on by the peasants as a flower of ill omen. The Romans used it as a charm against fever. In Europe it was a custom to hold your breath while running through a field of anemones. They believed that even the air around the anemone was poisonous."

Ok, now on to other.. Stuff.
I finished it T_T! I started this a little too late since I found out the deadline was extended (until today LOL) so I got to work right away... I dropped everything just for this picture ;D
I've never worked so hard on a picture LOL. Then again.. This is my first contest... On the internet LOL. But honestly, that quote STUCK TO ME LIKE GLUE. So I just couldn't help but join in after i was inspired by Kurin and Zaruki x3
I actually don't think I'll win xD But it was worth the try : ) I'm kind of happy with the fact I tried to draw a variety of age groups :3!
I kept it at its original size and huge watermark-less for the contest's sake, but once it's officially over, I'll probably resize + kill it with watermarks : )
Hm.. I think I'll edit this later, that explanation up there is SO NOT GOOD ENOUGH S:FJLSDFJ.
And this description is long enough.. D:
